Consistent Coffee Musings of Jessica Marie

I wouldn’t consider myself a coffee connoisseur, but I really like the routine of drinking it. I like basic hot and iced coffee. I’m not well versed on the specialty variations of lattes, cappuccinos, espressos, macchiatos, etc. or the different coffee makers like Keurig machines, Nespresso machines, french press machines, etc. I’m a little knowledgeable about the light, medium, and dark roasts and the only one I haven’t tried is light roast coffee. I’ve always heard that’s the strongest, most potent variation and I’ve just recently gotten my feet comfortable with drinking dark roast consistently. 

As for the beans, that’s a whole other story. Kris likes beans from specific countries/regions like South America and Africa. I, on the other hand, can't tell the difference. All I know is that it tastes like coffee and I’m adding half and half to it no matter where the beans come from. I also haven’t learned the art of grinding whole beans, but I’ve heard that’s the way to get the richest and purest taste.

I enjoy drinking iced coffee, especially in the mornings before work. I used to brew it in the mornings and pour it over ice, but it would always have that watered down taste. Now, I’ll brew a pot of coffee the evening before and let it sit in the refrigerator overnight so it properly cools before I add it to any ice. It’s been working pretty darn well too and I haven’t had any complaints. 

Part of the reason why I like basic iced and hot coffee is because no matter where I go, the coffee will more than likely taste the same. That sometimes isn’t true for those super fancy drink orders with measuring, substitutions, and flavors. You might order the same drink from two different coffee shops and have two totally different tasting beverages. 

All in all, I prefer to be pretty low maintenance when it comes down to coffee so I can enjoy a consistent experience every time.
